Captain Sloan Gurney is an energetic, friendly, expert fisherman. Raised in Orient Point, his home for 35 years, his expertise in local waters and fishing accounts for much of his success. A commercial fisherman since the 1980’s and professional rod and reel striped bass fisherman, Capt. Sloan received his Master Captains License from the Coast Guard in 1985 and is one of the few licensed commercial rod and reel striped bass fishermen in NY State. His safe and well-run boat are attributes of both his 35 years of experience on local waters and his degree in mechanical engineering. A member of the North Fork Captains Association, you will enjoy his professional expertise as a captain and fisherman and find his friendly, outgoing personality makes every trip fun and successful.

Black Rock Sport Fishing Charters is perfectly located in Orient Point, NY on the East End of Long Island’s North Fork, a secret fishing haven previously known only to the locals. Now more desirable than Montauk, Orient Point fishing is well protected within minutes of access to the bay, Long Island Sound, or ocean. Only 1 mile from the famous Plum Gut, where people come from hundreds of miles for its big Striped Bass fishing, Black Fish, and other sport fish.

FISHING TRIP

Don’t miss the opportunity to fish and enjoy the famous waters at Orient Point with Captain Sloan Gurney aboard the private sport fishing yacht “Black Rock”. Ideal for both the serious fisherman, family trip, or Business outing. The charter fishing trip on the “Black Rock” will be a fun-filled day with jam-packed fishing action. Everything is included as Capt. Sloan and courteous crew supply all bait, custom-built rods, and all other necessities to make your trip great. You bring the food and drink.

Once you come aboard, the boat leaves Orient By The Sea Marina and heads for one of the hot fishing spots (like Plum Gut or The Race). The crew teaches you our professional fishing technique, supplies you with the best equipment, and makes you feel at home as the fun begins. With great fishing, good music, a very comfortable boat, and a professional captain and crew we always have a good time. Orient Point Fishing is great.

After Capt. Sloan takes pictures of you holding up your catch, the crew fillets your fish and packs them in bags and ice for you. At the dock, you can enjoy good food and drink at the Duryea’s Restaurant to cap off a great trip.
